[Indexed as: (Hall case), “Stayed in Jail 15 Months to Keep Daughter from Divorced Wife,” syndicated (NEA), The Athens Messenger (Oh.), Jan. 13, 1927]
For 15 months James A. Hall stayed in a Kansas City jail rather than tell a judge and Mrs. Hall, who had divorced him, where their 3-year-old daughter, whose custody the court had awarded the mother, was hidden. His health failed due to confinement, and for weeks he could eat only bread and milk. Now, weak and emaciated, Hall has given up and announced given up and announced he will reveal the girl’s hiding place. His condition is considered serious. The insets show the daughter, Grace Angela Hall, and Judge Frank D. Hutchings, who sent Hall to jail for “contempt.”
