GIRL REFUSES MOTHER—”Go away,” sobs Marlene Matchan, 9. as she slaps at outstretched hand of mother, Mrs. Louise McBride. Outburst took place in Los Angeles after custody fight between Marlene’s grandmother, Mrs. Florence Zautner (left) and child’s mother. Custody of the child was given to the mother after Judge had charged Mrs. Zautner with “brutally poisoning the mind of your granddaughter against her mother.” Ralph McBride, Marlene’s stepfather is at right.
